Understanding Roles in @estimate
If you subscribe to two or more user licenses then you will be provided with a comprehensive set of tools for managing users including assigning them to a role.There are four different roles that may be assigned to users. They are:
- Administrator
- Editor
- Contractor
- and Reviewer
The following describes each of the different roles available in PMEstimate:
- Estimate Reviewers are restricted to reviewing the estimates of the projects to which they have been assigned. Reviewers might be your sales staff, senior management, and in some situations your client.
- Estimate
Contractors are restricted to reviewing or editing projects to which they have been assigned.
- This role is used when you wish to allow a contractor to directly participate in the development of your estimate.
- Contractors can edit estimates and review reports of projects to which they have been assigned.
- If you want to restrict a Contractor from seeing the rest of your estimate, then create a project just for the contractor. You might assign each contractor to their own project that you later copy into the master estimate. PMEstimate has Wizards that make this task fast and easy. Clicking one button in the Copy Wizard will copy the Contractor's estimate into the master estimate.
- Estimate
Editors, like Contractors, are restricted to the projects that they have been assigned by Estimate Administrators.
- Editors can edit estimates and review reports.
- In addition they have access to the Wizards and Robots to copy all or portions of existing estimates and estimate models.
- Estimate
Administrators have the same privileges as Editors but have unrestricted access to all projects. In addition they can:
- Assign users to projects
- Assign roles to users
- Create users
- Disable users
- Create projects
- Change user passwords
- Lock projects. Locked projects can be reviewed but not edited.
